Rohini Acharya slams journalist for making sexist remarks over donating kidney to her father

During the phone call, Rohini repeatedly challenges Bhelari to clarify his earlier statements, in which he argued that married daughters should not spend long periods with their parents. When Bhelari defends this by saying daughters should stay at their husbands' homes, Rohini quickly interrupts, demanding specifics. She asks, "For many hours, how many days can women stay at their parents' house?"

New Delhi: Rohini Acharya, who has been at the center of controversy due to explosive accusations against her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and his associates, released a video on Tuesday in which she confronts Bihar journalist Kanhaiya Bhelari. In the video, Rohini demands an explanation from Bhelari for what she calls sexist comments he made regarding her decision to donate a kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal).

In the clip, her voice is faint and strained, but the sharpness in her tone is clear as she presses Bhelari on why he questioned a married daughter’s right to care for and make sacrifices for her parents.

How many hours: Rohini asks Bhelari

During the phone call, Rohini repeatedly challenges Bhelari to clarify his earlier statements, in which he argued that married daughters should not spend long periods with their parents. When Bhelari defends this by saying daughters should stay at their husbands' homes, Rohini quickly interrupts, demanding specifics. She then questions why critics never challenge a daughter’s right to save her father’s life. "Why don’t you ask how a married woman dared to donate her kidney to her father? Where is the son?" she asks pointedly.

Along with the video, Rohini posted a strongly worded message, accusing trolls, journalists, and self-proclaimed moralists of mocking her kidney donation, calling it “dirty.” She challenged those who had criticized her sacrifice to take action themselves.

In the post shared on social media, Rohini wrote, “Those who want to do something in the name of Lalu ji, then instead of showing false sympathy, such people should come forward to donate their kidneys to those lakhs and crores of poor people who are counting their last breaths in hospitals and need kidneys and donate their kidneys in the name of Lalu ji.”

She further said, “Those who blame the married daughter who donated her kidney to her father, should muster courage and have an open debate with that daughter on an open platform. The great donation of donating kidneys to the needy should be started first by those who call the daughter's kidneys dirty, then by Haryanvi great men, sycophant journalists and Haryanvi devotee trolls who never get tired of abusing me. Those whose blood dries up at the mention of donating a bottle of blood, give sermons on donating kidneys?”

“Your mother must be ashamed”

Rohini also criticized those who, in her view, were quick to lecture her on kidney donation but wouldn't even give blood to those in need.

The conversation took an even more heated turn when Rohini accused Bhelari’s comments of reflecting a deeply sexist mindset. She pointed out that her presence in her parental home had always been at the invitation of the family, and this time it was because her brother Tejashwi Yadav had called her.

When Bhelari tried to end the call, Rohini shot back, saying, "Your mother must be ashamed to have given birth to a son like you. Your daughter-in-law should be ashamed as well." Before disconnecting the call, she added that he was "not worthy" of further conversation.
