200 Indians deported from US: Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, two Punjab fugitives on return flight

According to officials, the extortion of the Bishnoi is the result of joint efforts made by central agencies and the Delhi Police Crime Branch. The gangster is wanted in various high-profile cases across India.

New Delhi: In a significant development, the US has sent back 200 illegal immigrants, including wanted gangster Anmol Bishnoi and two other fugitives from Punjab. The immigrants are expected to arrive in India today at 10 o’clock at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. This development comes amid the Trump administration's strict immigration policies. Earlier, several illegal immigrants were deported from the US in February.

Who is Anmol Bishnoi?

Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in several high-profile cases, including - Sidhu Moosewala murder case, the Baba Siddiqui murder case, firing outside Salman Khan’s residence among others. Apart from these, he also has various other cases across the country.

It was in 2024 that Bishnoi was taken into custody by the US. The cases in the US against him are different from those in India. He was reportedly detained in the US for entering the country illegally.

He got significant attention after he was placed in the most wanted list by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The authorities had also announced Rs 10 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest.

18 cases filed against Anmol Bishnoi

The authorities have filed as many as 18 cases against him. Among them are allegations that he supplied weapons to assailants who killed singer Sidhu Moosewala. While earlier, Goldie Brar, a member of the Bishnoi gang earlier took responsibility for the attack, but later asserted that it was carried out to avenge a killing.

In June this year, reports surfaced that Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, close friends who went on to build transnational criminal networks involved in extortions, trafficking, murders, and kidnapping, had severed ties after the arrest of Anmol.
