Dehradun: According to the Meteorological Department, skies will remain clear today as the impact of the western disturbance fades, but dense fog has been predicted in several districts of Uttarakhand.
The Meteorological Center has issued a dense fog alert for Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Pauri, and Nainital. Foggy conditions are already visible in Haridwar, and officials warn that visibility may drop sharply in the morning and evening hours.
Hilly areas can see decline in temp
Temperatures are also expected to fall. The minimum temperature in the plains may drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, while hilly areas could see a decline of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. Light to moderate fog is also likely in some hilly regions.
On Tuesday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 24.4°C and a minimum of 11.2°C. Pantnagar reported similar figures, while Mukteshwar recorded a maximum of 12.5°C and a minimum of 2.5°C. New Tehri reported 14.6°C as the maximum and 3.7°C as the minimum.
Hailstorm in Mussoorie
The effects of recent rain and snowfall in the mountains were felt in the plains too. While sunshine made the plains warmer, Mussoorie experienced heavy hailstorms. The hailstorm in the Masrana area caused a traffic jam stretching nearly one and a half kilometers.
Tourists heading towards Uttarkashi, Tehri, and Dhanaulti faced difficulties, and local residents were troubled by the sudden disruption. The hailstorm has intensified the cold in Mussoorie, adding to the discomfort of travelers.
Snow in Badrinath and Kedarnath
Meanwhile, repeated snowfalls have left Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines buried under nearly three feet of snow. With bright sunshine returning, the Kedarnath shrine and surrounding hills are shining like silver, creating a breathtaking view. Pilgrims and tourists visiting the area are witnessing a captivating winter landscape.
Officials advise residents and tourists to remain cautious
The Meteorological Department has forecast clear skies across Uttarakhand on February 5th. However, rain and snowfall are expected to return in some hilly districts on February 6th. Officials advise residents and tourists to remain cautious, especially while traveling in foggy conditions or on slippery mountain roads.
