Crossing the 6 crores mark in 2025 is a landmark achievement
The steady growth in tourist numbers over the past few years reflects the success of these efforts. In 2021, Uttarakhand received 2 crore visitors, followed by 5.39 crore in 2022, 5.96 crore in 2023, and 5.95 crore in 2024. Crossing the 6 crores mark in 2025 is being seen as a landmark achievement.
Combination of spiritual tourism, adventure activities helped in achieving this feat
Tourism officials believe that the combination of spiritual tourism, adventure activities, and improved facilities has made Uttarakhand a year-round destination. From the Char Dham pilgrimage to skiing in Auli, from trekking in the Himalayas to visiting heritage towns, the state offers diverse experiences for travelers.
All sectors are getting benefitted
Local businesses, including hotels, homestays, transport services, and guides, are benefiting directly from this surge. The government expects that continued investment in infrastructure and eco-friendly tourism will further strengthen Uttarakhand’s position as one of India’s leading tourist destinations.
Dhami’s initiatives have played a key role in this achievement
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s initiatives have played a key role in this achievement. Under his leadership, the government has launched several schemes to promote tourism and improve infrastructure at pilgrimage and tourist sites. Safety arrangements have also been strengthened, ensuring that visitors can travel with confidence.
The CM Dhami emphasized that tourism is a major pillar of Uttarakhand’s economy. He said, “Our government is promoting tourism activities throughout the year, ensuring employment opportunities for local residents and youth. Winter tourism is a key component of this initiative. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mukhba, his winter residence, to worship Mother Ganga, has boosted winter tourism in the state. We have prioritized tourist safety along with enhancing facilities, and as a result, Uttarakhand is setting new records every year.”
