KSRTC to install dash cameras in all sleeper buses | Check features and other details

The KSRTC further said that all buses in its fleet have been equipped with Fire Detection and Suppression Systems (FDSS). These systems have been added to identify early signs of fire in buses and put the spread of fire in check.

The KSRTC has also included several additional safety features, which are aimed at protecting passengers in the event of an emergency.

Bengaluru: Taking a que from several fire-related incidents in sleeper coaches as well as as air conditioned buses that led of deaths of several people on Karnataka and national highways, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to install dash cameras and saloon cameras in all its sleeper buses.

Cameras to keep eye on drivers

According to a report published in ‘The Times of India’, the cameras installed in sleeper buses will keep an eye on the behaviour of drivers and driving patterns. These cameras will also ensure safety of passengers, particularly in sleeper coaches and air-conditioned services.

On Wednesday, the KSRTC published detailed safety protocols for passengers travelling in Non-AC Sleeper, Pallakki AC, Airavata Club Class seater, Ambaari Utsav among others. These guidelines have been issued to make passengers onboard aware of safety features and emergency response mechanisms.

All buses equipped with FDSS

The KSRTC further said that all buses in its fleet have been equipped with Fire Detection and Suppression Systems (FDSS). These systems have been added to identify early signs of fire in buses and put the spread of fire in check. The system will not only alert the driver but also initiate suppression measures automatically.

The corporation has also included several additional safety features, which are aimed at protecting passengers in the event of an emergency. Among these were first-aid kits, marked emergency exits, dashcams, and salon cameras, among others.

What release said

"The dash cams and saloon cameras installed in Ambaari Utsav buses help monitor driver behaviour, driving patterns, and safety-related issues onboard the buses,” the KSRTC release stated. It further added that the Corporation plans to expand this feature across its entire sleeper bus fleet. "Very soon, all sleeper buses will be fitted with dash cams and saloon cameras to enhance passenger safety,” the release added.
