Although air quality remains a concern, Delhi's AQI has shown significant improvement since Wednesday, owing to high winds and favourable meteorological conditions. The city has been grappling with a prolonged pollution spell this winter, prompting the government to impose strict measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram see improvement in air quality

Besides Delhi, neighbouring cities, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, also saw a brief respite from elevated pollution levels this morning, with the AQI recorded at 226, 242, and 205 in these places, respectively.

As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor' and 401 and 500 'severe'.

Air quality may deteriorate in coming days

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, the respite from toxic air is likely to be short-lived as the air quality is expected to again slip into the 'very poor category' in the coming days.

The IMD has predicted a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius on Friday, with moderate fog expected.
