New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Hyderabad, a woman was allegedly killed by her husband, who set her ablaze. The woman, identified as Triveni and the incident happened just a day before Christmas in the Nallakunta area of the city. The man also pushed one of his children into the fire.
According to the police, the man Venkatesh was suspicious about his wife and this led to frequent fights and disagreements between the couple. On the fateful day, the husband and wife once again had a fight and an enraged Venkatesh beat her up badly. He then poured kerosene oil on her and set her ablaze.
When the couple's daughter tried to save her mother, she too was pushed into the fire by her father. The man then fled the scene. Hearing the woman's screams and the cries of her daughter, neighbours rushed into the house. They immediately moved the woman, who had been badly burnt, and her daughter to a hospital. While the woman succumbed to her burns soon after being admitted to hospital, her daughter escaped with minor injuries and is being treated at the facility.
The accused husband, Venkatesh hails from Huzurabad in Nalgonda district. The couple had a love marriage and they had 2 children, 1 daughter and a son.
The police said that not only did the couple have frequent fights, but Venkatesh even assaulted his wife regularly. Unable to bear the abuse and beatings, the woman had recently gone to her parents' home, but returned after her husband came to her parental home and assured her that he would mend his ways. Believing him, she returned home to Hyderabad.
But just within a few days of her return, the quarrels started again and on Wednesday, after a major argument, the woman lost her life. A case has been registered against the accused husband at the Nallakunta police station. The man ran away soon after the murder, but the alert police team managed to track him down and arrested him within 12 hours of the chilling murder.
The incident has triggered a major outrage in the locality. The people are concerned about the rising number of crimes and domestic violence incidents here, which mostly stem out of suspicion of one partner.
