New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday ruled out any foul play in the death of singer and actor Prashant Tamang at his residence in Janakpuri. On Sunday, the Paatal Lok star passed away in his sleep.
When his wife, Martha Aley, discovered that he was unconscious and unresponsive, she rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. South West Delhi Police said Tamang’s death appeared to be natural and had not raised any suspicion so far. A post-mortem examination will be conducted at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The late-singer's wife Martha also stated that there was no foul play involved. Addressing rumours surrounding his sudden demise, she said the death was natural and occurred while he was asleep.
In an interview with ANI, Martha said, “Thank you to everyone. I’ve been receiving calls from all over the world—from people I know and people I don’t know. I’ve been receiving flowers. People are standing outside my house, and many have come to the hospital to see him for the last time.”
Meanwhile, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed condolences over the sudden and unfortunate demise of the Indian Idol 3 winner. “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of renowned singer and actor Prashant Tamang, whose inspirational journey to the prestigious stage of Indian Idol, culminating in his historic win, stands as a shining example of perseverance, talent and humility,” the Chief Minister said.
“His passing is an irreparable loss not only to his family and loved ones but also to the countless admirers whose hearts he touched through his soulful voice and inspiring life story,” he added. The Sikkim Chief Minister further said that Tamang will be remembered for his melodious voice, simplicity and the immense pride he brought to his people. He added that Tamang will continue to inspire generations of aspiring artists.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and well-wishers. May they be granted strength, courage and solace during this moment of profound sorrow. May his departed soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
