New Delhi: On Monday, Congress leader Sachin Pilot visited different colleges in the north campus of Delhi University. He said he was sure that the student wing of the Congress party would win the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. While he was at the Hindu College, supporters of both the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) gathered. They shouted slogans at each other until the security stepped in to stop the clash.
Pilot was joined by Varun Choudhary, who leads NSUI at the national level, and Delhi Congress head Devender Yadav. Together, they met students at Miranda House, Campus Law Centre (CLC), and Hindu College. Pilot said, “Delhi University is one of the top universities in the country. All four NSUI candidates will win with help from the students who believe in us.”
He also added that many students are unhappy with the current state and central governments and want change. “Students agree with what we stand for. This will show in the election results,” he said. His visit was part of a campaign to reach more students, bring attention to issues that matter to them, and get support for the NSUI panel, according to an official NSUI release.
NSUI has chosen 23-year-old Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, who is doing her post-graduation in Buddhist Studies, to run for the position of president. She is the first female candidate for this role in the past 17 years. The group has also selected Rahul Jhansla to run for vice president, Kabir for the secretary role, and Lav Kush Badhana for joint secretary.
The DUSU elections for the 2025–26 academic year will be held on *September 18*, and the results will be counted on the following day. In the 2024 elections, NSUI made a strong return after a gap of seven years by winning the president and joint secretary positions. ABVP had won the posts of vice president and secretary in that election.
