Noida: In a shocking accident, a 27-year-old man lost his life after his car collided with a drainage boundary in Noida. As per the police, the incident took place on Friday evening amid dense fog, the police said.
The incident took place when the techie, Yuvraj Mehta, was returning home from work. The accident took place on Noida Sector 150. Because of the dense fog and absence of reflectors on the road, his car collided with a ridge that divides the two drainage basins. The car then fell into a 70-foot-deep ditch. While the passers-by tried to help him, the car was completely submerged in the water.
As per NDTV, soon after accident, the techie called up his father and said, “Dad, I've fallen into a deep pit filled with water. I'm drowning. Please come and save me. I don't want to die." Just a few minutes later, the rescue teams of Noida Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, divers, and his father reached the spot.
After efforts, the car was pulled out. However, Mehta could not be saved. His family has filed a police complaint, alleging that authorities neither installed reflectors nor the drains along the service road. The police, after receiving the complaint, said that any negligence found in the case will be dealt with.
The incident has led to protests among the residents of the area. They organised protests and shouted slogans against the authorities. They said that steps were not taken even after repeated reminders by them. After this, filled the ditch with several tons of debris.
