Hyderabad collector to receive public grievance on WhatsApp

The public can send their complaints to 7416687878. They will receive a grievance ID, Action taken report (ATR) and an SMS confirmation.

In a move to make city governance more approachable, Hyderabad Collector has launched Whatsapp service for public to register their grievances.

In a post on social media platform X, Collector Harichandana said that the public can lodge their grievances vis the messaging application.

The public can send their complaints to 7416687878. They will receive a grievance ID, Action taken report (ATR) and an SMS confirmation. Officers can now be reached without the hassle of travel, the collector said.

Meanwhile, reacting to the announcement, Hyderabad residents online have said that it is not helpful and that there’s no response from officials on Whatsapp.

Earlier this year, neighbouring Andhra Pradesh also launched ‘WhatsApp Governance’, to roll out hassle-free services for citizens via whatsapp. People can now avail 161 services through the messaging app including booking temple darshan tickets, scheduling temple visits or receiving birth certificates.

Services related to various government departments – Energy, Endowments, APSRTC, Revenue, Anna Canteens, CMRF and Municipal Administration have been included. The services can be availed on an official WhatsApp number 95523 00009.
