Hyderabad: Woman conspires with boyfriend to kill husband, arrested

The woman's husband, a logistics manager, 45, was restrained and strangulated by the three accused. Investigators identified injuries on the neck and cheek of the deceased after which investigtaion picked up speed.

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old woman and her boyfriend were arrested after they conspired to kill her husband in East Brindavan Colony, Boduppal area of the city, reports said.

The woman’s husband, a logistics manager, 45, was reportedly strangulated by the accused. The case came to light on December 12, when J Purnima, told the Medipally police that her husband VJ Ashok fell unconscious at home and was later declared dead at a government hospital in Malkajgiri.

Evidence proves death as homicide:

Police initially registered a case of unnatural death and began routine investigation as there was no suspicion of murder.

During the course of the probe, officials noted injuries on the cheek and neck of the deceased, which raised doubts about the cause of death. The irregularity prompted retrieval of CCTV footage, call data and other evidence. The investigators later concluded that it was homicide.

Woman, two others arrested:

Based on the evidence, the woman Purnima and two others identified as Paleti Mahesh and Bhukya Sai Kumar were arrested.

Police said that Purnima was in an extra marital affair with P Mahesh, who lived in the same colony. Her husband, Ashok, who suspected about the affair, had been confronting and questioning her, which led to frequent fights.

Purnima and Mahesh conspired to kill Ashok and roped in Sai to assist in the crime.

On December 11, Purnima, Mahesh and Sai executed their plan as they restrained and strangulated him with three dupattas, police said. They disposed off incriminating evidence and misled Ashok’s relatives and others that he died of a heart attack.

Police seize blood stained dupattas:

Police seized blood stained dupattas, an iPhone 15, the blood stained clothes of the deceased, a pen drive containing incriminating photos and videos, broken teeth, a two-wheeler used during the crime, blood stained clothes belonging to one of the accused.

The case registered under BNSS section 194 was altered to BNS Section 103 (1) and 238 r/w 3(5). All three accused are remanded to judicial custody.
