Three men have been arrested for the rape and murder of a 32-year-old woman, whose body was found under Musi River Bridge on Tuesday evening, Rajendranagar Police said.
The accused have been charged with abduction, gangrape and murder of the woman. The woman was intoxicated and was found near Pillar number 143 on the night of September 14.
Who are the three accused?
A car driver, Meka Durga Reddy, reportedly promised her food and lured her into his vehicle. He drove her to the nearby KLCC Function Hall, where he sexually assaulted her and dropped her near Pillar No. 306.
At this location, two auto drivers, Gulam Dastagir Khan and Mohammed Imran, reportedly forced her into their vehicle and drove her to a place near Musi River Bridge to Kismathpur, where they raped her.
When the woman resisted, Dastagir Khan stabbed and wounded her severely with sticks, leading to fatal injuries. The accused fled the scene, leaving the body.
Three men’s criminal history:
The three accused have a record of criminal activity, including earlier arrests for serious offences. Durga Reddy has a lengthy record of arrests for theft and other offences in Hyderabad and Nalgonda.
Gulam Dastagir Khan, an auto driver, had previous arrest record and was charged under various sections of the BNS in two cases.
Mohd Imran was previously charged in a case under various sections of the BNS and violations of Motor Vehicles Act.
Rajendranagar Police in coordination with Special Operations Team (SOT) and local police station staff arrested the three accused, reports said. Two autos and four mobiles have been seized from the accused.
