New Delhi: With the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025 result set to be declared on July 4, lakhs of students across the country are gearing up for the next phase, which is college admissions. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) serves as the gateway for admission to India’s top central, state and private universities.
Once the results are announced, the counselling and seat allocation process begins. Here’s what candidates need to know about what to do next after downloading their CUET UG scorecard.
Candidates must visit the official website cuet.nta.nic.in and log in using the necessary credentials such as the application number and date of birth. Download the scorecard and carefully check the section-wise marks, percentile or normalised score and subject combinations and eligibility. This scorecard will be used by universities for admissions.
Based on the CUET score and subject combination, candidates need to shortlist universities and programmes. Each university has its cut-off criteria and admission policies. Some of the top CUET-accepting universities are the University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, University of Allahabad, Hyderabad University, Ambedkar University Delhi and more.
Most universities follow a centralised counselling process. For instance, DU uses the (Common Seat Allocation System) CSAS portal, BHU, JMI, and others host their admission portals. Candidates must register, fill in the preferences and upload the necessary documents such as the CUET UG scorecard, Class 10 and 12 mark sheet and certificate, category certificate (if any) and identity proof.
After registration, universities release the round-wise merit lists or cut-offs based on CUET scores. If the score matches the cut-off for the preferred course, accept the offer and pay the admission fee before the last date.
If not selected in the first round, stay active during the next few rounds. Some universities also allow upgrading preferences based on the availability of seats.
Candidates must keep all documents ready, track official announcements and follow the dates. The phase after the CUET result is very crucial. The right choices and prompt action can secure a seat at the preferred university.
