Amitabh Bachchan is believed to be irreplaceable in Bollywood. Some of the characters he has portrayed in Indian cinema are so iconic that he has garnered a massive following of millions. While he has blessed Hindi cinema with plenty of remarkable roles, there were a few he chose to reject.

New Delhi: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is one of the greatest actors Indian cinema has ever produced. There is no denying the fact that whenever he appears on the silver screen, he outshines all his co-stars. The 82-year-old actor has been a prominent figure in Hindi cinema for almost six decades now, and it seems there's no replacing him.

Big B, who is known for his unwavering commitment to his projects, has also turned down several film offers throughout his illustrious career. Interestingly, one of the movies he rejected went on to bring global fame and popularity to Anil Kapoor. With insights from a TV9Hindi report, here are six films that Amitabh declined.

Mr India

The film that first gave Anil Kapoor major recognition in his career was Mr India. After working in the Shekhar Kapur directorial, he became a massive sensation. Even today, only a handful of films in Anil's career can match the impact of Mr India. Interestingly, the role was initially offered to Amitabh Bachchan.

Koi Mil Gaya

In Hrithik Roshan's superhit film Koi Mil Gaya, Amitabh Bachchan was the initial choice for the role of the protagonist's father. However, Big B declined the offer. The character was later played by Hrithik's father and the film's director, Rakesh Roshan.

Qurbani

Qurbani is considered one of the biggest movies in Vinod Khanna's career. Feroz Khan also played a pivotal role in the film. Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan was initially approached for Vinod's role. However, after Big B refused, Vinod stepped in and went on to win the hearts of millions of cinema lovers.

Mission Kashmir

The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial was another film that was initially offered to Amitabh. The role of police officer Inayat Khan in Mission Kashmir, which was ultimately played by Sanjay Dutt, was first offered to Big B.

Ishq

According to reports, Amitabh was offered a cameo role in the multi-starrer film Ishq. The role didn't have much screen time, so Big B refused to do it. The 1997 film featured Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn in lead roles.

Slumdog Millionaire

The role of the host played by Anil Kapoor in Slumdog Millionaire was first offered to Amitabh. Since Big B was already hosting the real-life show Kaun Banega Crorepati, he didn't find the role tempting in Danny Boyle's directorial and decided to turn it down.
