Mumbai: Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming war drama Ikkis, which was scheduled to release on December 25, 2025, will now be released on January 1, 2026. Film critic Taran Adarsh shared a post on X confirming the news.

Taking to social media, Taran stated, "The decision to shift the release of #Ikkis ahead makes perfect business sense… Besides being a solo release on 1 Jan 2026, #Ikkis is assured of its share of shows at prime properties. Meanwhile, the *final trailer* of #Ikkis will be unveiled on 19 Dec 2025… This writer has already witnessed the trailer, and it makes a super-solid impression."

The movie, starring Agastya Nanda, tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who participated in the Indo-Pak war in 1971. He is India's youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. “At just 21, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal became a legend. His story is not one of age, but of spirit — of honour, sacrifice and glory. Of courage that defined a generation, and will keep doing so for generations to come,” said Maddock Films in a press note.

About Ikkis

Sharing a poster, Maddock Films also wrote, "On the birth anniversary of Arun Khetarpal, Ikkis, a story that will forever stay in our hearts, is wrapped. Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films present Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, a true untold story of the youngest officer recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. In cinemas December 2025!”

The movie, written by Sriram, Arijit Biswas and Pooja Ladha Surti, also stars Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher. The film marks Agastya's second big project after Zoya Akhtar's The Archies in 2023.

Speaking of his role, Agastya said he did not expect the offer. "The surprising thing is that when this film was offered to me, I was twenty-one years old. That was my first connection with the character and the story," said the actor.

Explaining the portrayal of a soldier, the actor stated, “When we talk about a soldier, it is a different connection. It's as simple as when you hear the national anthem, you feel pride."
