Mumbai: The Malayalam blockbuster, Lokah Chapter 1, which created magic in theatres, is all set for its OTT release. The woman superhero movie, written and directed by Dominic Arun, is the first chapter in the five-part fantasy universe.
Jio Hotstar confirmed the news via Instagram with a post that stated, "The beginning of a new universe. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra — coming soon on JioHotstar." While the release is confirmed, the exact dates are still being speculated. Some reports claim that the movie will begin streaming on October 20, 2025.
The release of the movie, which features Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles, has got fans excited. Many took to social platforms to request dubbed versions of the movie on OTT.
The movie earned more than Rs 300 crore globally and was a massive hit in other languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
Dulquar Salman directed the movie under his production house, Wayfarer Films. Chandu Salim Kumar, Arun Kurian, and Sandy Master play some key characters in the film. The one-of-a-kind film blends the folklore of Kalliyankattu Neeli with fantasy, serving the audience something they have never experienced, especially from the Malayalam movie industry.
It was released in theatres on August 28, 2025. Since the start, the movie received glowing responses from cinema lovers and critics. The unique plot, cinematography, and outstanding action sequences gave the audience goosebumps.
Cinema lovers are looking forward to its sequel, Lokah Chapter 2, which will feature Tovino Thomas as Chaatan. A teaser video featuring a humourous exchange between Tovino and Dulquar's characters hinted at what could be expected in the next part.
