Veteran actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan held a rare press conference in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
The actor turned politician said that he finds it awkward to talk about what has gone into making the film and that he refrained from promoting his films all these years.
"This is the first time in my life that I am talking to the media about a film. I don't know how to promote a film. It would be an understatement to say that we have worked so hard for this. When I first came to the industry, I didn't even put my photos in the papers. Due to this, my films were released without any publicity.
I don't know what to say about the film. The reason for holding this press meet is AM Rathnam. Many battles have to be fought to make a film and this one faced many setbacks. After I went into politics, I could not give time to the film. However, I set aside 57 days from my schedule for the film. We shot for the film in May under the hot sun in adverse conditions. The martial arts that I learned in the past were very useful for this film," Kalyan stated.
He further noted that politically he’s known nationwide, but in terms of cinema, he’s far behind some actors. “I don't get the same collections as other heroes do.. because I never focused on films, I focused on society and politics.”
"Indian cinema has no caste or religious differences. It depends on creativity. Even if it is Chiranjeevi's son or brother, no one can stand without talent. Even if it is my son tomorrow, it will be the same. Talent is important here," he noted.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 1: Sword vs Spirit, stars Nidhi Agarwal as the female lead and is set to release on Thursday, July 24.
