New Delhi: Well, the fact is not unknown that Priyanka Chopra Jonas is one of the finest actresses that Indian cinema has ever produced. Over the years, the 42-year-old actress has featured in plenty of movies, blessing Bollywood with some memorable performances. Her hard work and dedication are an example to many. But, so far, which has been her toughest role?
According to a TV9Hindi report, PeeCee's mother Madhu Chopra, in an interview, opened up about the same and divulged some interesting details. When asked to pick one of Priyanka's most challenging performances, she mentioned Barfi! and Bajirao Mastani, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Madhu disclosed Priyanka worked extremely hard for her role as Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani. In fact, she even avoided talking to anyone to stay in character. Whoa! Now, that is some next-level commitment. Isn't it?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known as one of Bollywood's most demanding directors, who gets deeply involved in every aspect of his flicks. His devotion is clearly reflected in his films. Speaking to Lehren about the 2015 release Bajirao Mastani, Madhu added that Kashibai’s role was incredibly challenging. She further said that pleasing a director like Bhansali is no easy task.
Talking about Priyanka's approach during the shoot, Madhu explained that her daughter remained highly focused. She highlighted that, even during breaks in her vanity van, Priyanka avoided conversations to stay immersed in her character.
It is to be noted that, some time back, it also came to light that the role was so difficult that Priyanka considered quitting midway. However, after the film’s release, all her hard work paid off. Priyanka received immense appreciation for her portrayal of Kashibai. According to her mother, this role was one of the toughest performances of Priyanka's career.
Bajirao Mastani also featured Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead. It was said to be based on Nagnath S Inamdar's Marathi novel Rau. The movie revolved around the story of the Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I.
