Mumbai: The Thalapathy Vijay fans are all eagerly waiting for the release of his upcoming movie Jana Nayagan. The movie is slated for release on January 9, 2026. In the most recent updates, the film's plot and alleged runtime have been revealed.
The movie, directed by H. Vinoth, will showcase Vijay in a rugged look, taking on the villains fearlessly.
According to Let's Cinema, the plot revolves around two people, one who is for the people and the other who closely controls the public. The two personalities have crossed paths in the past, and years later, they meet again. Vijay will play the role of a moral cop who takes his job and social responsibilities seriously. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol is expected to play the role of the antagonist in the film. Pooja Hegde is the female lead in the movie. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamita Baiju, etc will play pivotal roles in the commercial entertainer.
Special appearances of Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar, and Lokesh Kanagaraj have been speculated. However, there has been no confirmation. Cinema Express reported that the film is expected to run for approximately 3 hours and 6 minutes, making it Vijay's second-longest film after Nanban, which was 3 hours and 8 minutes.
Despite the report, there has been no official confirmation from the film's makers regarding its actual runtime.
The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Sathyan Sooryan helmed the cinematography, and the editing was done by Pradeep E.
The film's first single, titled ‘Thalapathy Kacheri’, was unveiled recently. Fans are expecting the trailer on December 30, 2025.
The release of Vijay's film is expected to clash with Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, which will be released on January 14, 2026.
