After Bihar poll debacle, the inside story of Lalu Yadav family feud, Tejashwi-Rohini Acharya friction
Post-Bihar election, a major RJD family dispute erupted between Tejashwi Yadav and Rohini Acharya. Rohini reportedly blamed Tejashwi's core team, specifically Sanjay Yadav, for the party's poor performance and alleged control.
The results of the Bihar Assembly elections, declared on November 14, gave a major setback to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). A day later, on 15 November, tensions reportedly escalated within the family of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
According to family members and sources close to the development, a heated argument broke out at Lalu’s residence at 10 Circular Road between former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and his sister Rohini Acharya. The dispute reportedly intensified to the point where the two allegedly raised their footwear in the heat of the moment, before family elders intervened.
Rohini upset with Tejashwi’s core team
Rohini Acharya was reportedly angry with the functioning of Tejashwi’s core team — particularly, Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and others. She is said to have blamed this team for the party’s poor election performance.
Rohini also objected to the alleged appointment of Sumit Yadav, brother-in-law of Sanjay Yadav, as Tejashwi’s personal assistant. She reportedly complained that Sanjay and Rameez control access to Tejashwi and "do whatever they want,” restricting others from meeting him.
During the argument, Tejashwi allegedly defended Sanjay Yadav, prompting Rohini to ask why he "takes everything about Sanjay personally.”
Rabri Devi and Misa Bharti step In
As tempers flared, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and elder sister Misa Bharti reportedly stepped in to calm the situation. Some family members also claim that Tejashwi’s wife supported Sanjay Yadav during the confrontation.
In the heat of the dispute, Tejashwi allegedly told Rohini — who is married — that she should go to her in-laws’ home. Rohini reportedly left the house in tears and went to meet Lalu Prasad Yadav, after which she departed for Delhi later that evening.
At Patna Airport, Rohini publicly signaled the growing family discord.
Past tensions with Sanjay Yadav
This is not the first time Rohini Acharya has reportedly expressed displeasure over Sanjay Yadav’s influence. During the "Bihar Adhikar Yatra,” she had objected when Sanjay allegedly took the front seat reserved for Tejashwi.
RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has also openly criticised Sanjay Yadav on earlier occasions.
Rohini’s explosive posts on X
Escalating the matter, Rohini Acharya posted on the social media platform X, alleging that she was insulted with statements such as:
"I was told that I am dirty, my kidney is dirty. That I took crores of rupees, took the ticket, and only then got my ‘dirty kidney’ transplanted.”
Political aspirations and candidate list dispute
Sources also claim that after her defeat in the Chhapra Lok Sabha seat, Rohini wanted to contest the Assembly elections and sought to finalise candidates for the Chhapra region. She reportedly submitted a list of preferred candidates to Tejashwi’s team, but it was allegedly ignored — a decision that deepened her dissatisfaction.
