New Delhi: In India, trains are arguably the most popular form of public transportation. The passenger trains in our country started to run on the tracks in 1853. Despite its many drawbacks, the colonial British Raj in India helped the country by introducing the railways in the subcontinent, the largest colony of the empire. The technology of those early trains was modern in the context of that age, and since 1947, following the Independence of India, the trains have become highly evolved.

Today, if we look at the early trains in India and compare them with the modern trains of the Railways, we will find that the difference is mind-boggling. It goes on to show how the trains in our country have transformed over the centuries. From a necessary means of transport to enable people to travel from one part of the land to another in a vast country like India, trains today have become a hub of modern amenities and luxuries. Now, passengers can travel in trains, enjoying all the modern comforts that the vehicle can offer.
