Andhra Pradesh cabinet approves district reorganisation; final notification On December 31

Andhra Pradesh cabinet met on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, extensively discussed and approved the district reorganization.

Amaravati: The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has approved the creation of two new districts - Polavaram and Markapuram in a cabinet meeting on Monday, December 29, Tv9 Telugu reported.

Apart from the creation of two new districts, the state cabinet has approved the proposal to shift Annamayya district headquarters from Rayachoti to Madanapalle and to merge Rajampet constituency, currently in Annamayya district, into YSR Kadapa district, and Railway Kodur into Tirupati district.

AP District reorganisation:

The cabinet, which met on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, extensively discussed and approved the district reorganization.

Along with the creation of 5 new revenue divisions, Adoni mandal in Kurnool district will be divided into two. The name of Penugonda village in West Godavari district will be changed to Vasavi Penugonda.

Three mandals from the Gudur constituency have been merged into Sri Potti Sriramulu district. Kandukur constituency from Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district and Addanki constituency from Bapatla district will be merged into Prakasam district.

Changes and additions have been made to the Gudur revenue division in Tirupati district. The Gudur revenue division, comprising Gudur, Chillakur, and Kota mandals, is being merged into Nellore district.

Of the remaining mandals in this division, Vakadu and Chittimuru will be included in the Sullurpeta division, while Balayapalle, Dakkili, and Venkatagiri mandals will be included in the Srikalahasti division.

New districts created:

Polavaram, with Rampachodavaram as its headquarters will consist of 12 mandals i.e; 8 mandals from Rampachodavaram Revenue Division and 4 mandals from Chintoor Revenue Division.

Markapuram will consist of 21 mandals including 15 from Markapuram revenue division and 6 from Kanigiri.

AP final notification and administration:

The final notification regarding the new districts, revenue divisions, and mandals, along with various changes and additions, will be issued on December 31. Administration will commence from January 1. Overall, the number of districts in the state went up from 26 to 28.
