New Delhi: A court in Jalandhar has ordered the removal of a video shared by Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra in connection with allegations of insulting the Sikh Gurus against Leader of the Opposition Atishi, after a forensic examination found the video to be doctored.

The court directed all social media platforms to take down the video and remove every link from accounts that had uploaded or shared it. The order follows a forensic report submitted before the court, which concluded that the video had been manipulated.

The controversy began when BJP leaders, including Kapil Mishra, shared the clip alleging it showed Atishi insulting Sikh sentiments during Delhi Assembly proceedings. This sparked widespread outrage, protests by AAP supporters, and counter-allegations that the BJP had manipulated the video to create communal tension and divert attention from governance issues.

Punjab Police registered an FIR based on a complaint, citing the forensic report as evidence of deliberate manipulation. AAP leaders have accused the BJP of committing sacrilege by spreading the fake video and misusing the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The matter has also led to cross-jurisdictional tensions, with the Delhi Assembly issuing breach of privilege notices to Punjab Police officials over the FIR, while police sought additional time to respond.
