West Bengal has commenced its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, a process now at the centre of a political dispute. This follows Trinamool Congresss (TMC) significant protests, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee leading thousands in Kolkata.

She accused the Election Commission of bias, escalating tensions around the crucial exercise. In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the protest, labelling it a "rally of Jamaat."

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar further alleged that many Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are distributing forms directly from TMC offices, reportedly under political pressure. These accusations by the BJP raise significant questions regarding the impartiality and fairness of the ongoing voter roll revision process in the state, transforming the administrative exercise into a heated war of words between the two prominent political parties.
