Bihar Shooters Failed Disguise: Kolkata Arrest After Chandan Mishra Murder
The successful apprehension of Tauseef Khan, the prime suspect in the murder of convict Chandan Mishra, highlights the effectiveness of inter-state police collaboration and advanced technological tools. Mishra, serving a prison sentence and out on parole, was killed at Paras Hospital in Bihar on July 17th. An immediate investigation by Bihar Police, utilizing CCTV footage from the hospital, identified Khan and several accomplices. The footage clearly showed Khan and his associates entering the hospital and perpetrating the crime.
Following the identification of the suspects, Bihar Police initiated a widespread manhunt. Intelligence indicated that Khan and his accomplices were fleeing towards Kolkata. This information was promptly shared with the West Bengal Police, triggering a coordinated operation. The Bihar STF (Special Task Force) provided crucial information, including the registration number of the vehicle used by the suspects.
West Bengal Police, leveraging ANPR systems, successfully tracked Khan’s vehicle. Toll data confirmed the vehicles entry into Dankuni, West Bengal, around 10:30 pm on July 17th. Multiple teams from Kolkata Police and the West Bengal STF were placed on high alert upon Khans arrival in Kolkata.
The meticulous tracking led to Kha'ns arrest on July 19th along with Nishu, Harsh, and Bhim. Subsequently, a Kolkata court granted a transit remand, enabling the transfer of the accused to Patna for further legal proceedings. The swift and efficient apprehension of Tauseef Khan underscores the value of inter-state cooperation and the increasingly crucial role of technology in modern law enforcement.
