 An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 struck Xinjiang on Monday, a statement by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said. As per the NCS, the earthquake struck at a shallow depth of 10km. BJP slams Mehbooba for Delhi blast remarks; claims regional parties fuelling radicalisation in J-K

 The BJP on Monday lambasted former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for linking the Delhi blast to the situation in the Union Territory, terming her comments "irresponsible" and "dangerous".

The PDP chief on Sunday claimed the car blast near the Red Fort on November 10 that killed 13 people reflected a deepening sense of insecurity across the country and a failure of the government's policies in Jammu and Kashmir.

Defamation case against Rahul: Hearing in UP court deferred to Nov 26 after witness fails to appear

The hearing in a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in an MP-MLA court here was deferred to November 26 after a key witness failed to appear, his counsel said on Monday.

Gandhi’s counsel Kashi Prasad Shukla said the proceedings could not be conducted on Monday as witness Ram Chandra Dubey remained absent and sought an adjournment through an application.

The court has now fixed November 26 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Defamation case against Rahul: Hearing in UP court deferred to Nov 26 after witness fails to appear

The Supreme Court on Monday permitted the Tree Authority to decide on a fresh plea of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for felling more trees in Mumbai for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road project, provided compensatory afforestation takes place "scrupulously".

The top court, on July 29, had permitted the civic body to fell 95 trees in Mumbai's Film City for the project.

However, a bench headed by Chief Justice B R Gavai, on October 27, took a strong note of poor implementation of compensatory afforestation in Mumbai and warned the Maharashtra government that it will revoke all earlier permissions for felling trees for projects like Mumbai metro rail and the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project.

Azam Khan, son Abdullah convicted; sentenced to jail for 7 years in dual PAN card case

Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mohammad Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam were on Monday convicted and sentenced to jail terms of up to seven years by a special MP/MLA court here in a 2019 case related to obtaining two PAN cards using different dates of birth, a prosecution officer said.

Azam Khan, son Abdullah were sent to jail after the Rampur MP/MLA court convicted and sentenced them in the dual PAN card case.

Delivering the verdict, Special Magistrate (MP/MLA Court) Shobhit Bansal held both father and son guilty after examining documentary evidence and witness testimonies, Prosecution Officer Rakesh Kumar Maurya told reporters.

Kerala Human Rights panel orders Rs 1 lakh for worker tortured in police custody

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission on Monday directed the state government to pay a compensation of one lakh rupees to a construction worker who allegedly suffered custodial torture at the hands of a police officer three years ago.

Commission Chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas said in the order that the government may recover the amount from the accused officer, P R Rahul, who is currently serving as a sub-inspector in the state police.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that Operation Sindoor showcased India's strength to the world, and Uttar Pradesh stood firmly with the nation's armed forces.

He also said that during Operation Sindoor, drones developed by the youth of Uttar Pradesh left Pakistan stunned.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of the Babu Banarasi Das University, a private university, Adityanath said, "Operation Sindoor showcased India's strength to the world. Uttar Pradesh stood firmly with the nation's armed forces, contributing significantly to defence capabilities. The BrahMos missile is being manufactured in Lucknow, for which the state government provided land free of cost." He added that once the BrahMos unit begins operating at full capacity, Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive Rs 300-“500 crore annually in GST. The land was offered in 2020 and formally allocated in 2022; its developed value was only Rs 200 crore, yet now the state is receiving returns many times higher, he said.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived here on Monday on a three-day visit to Assam, its north-east media spokesperson said.

Bhagwat, after his arrival at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here, left for the RSS state headquarters in Guwahati, where he is scheduled to hold discussions with its members.

Woman held for thefts on local trains; valuables worth Rs 17.38 lakh recovered

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from commuters in crowded local trains in Maharashtra's Thane, an official from the Government Railway Police said on Monday.

The accused, Aarti A Dutta, was caught in connection with two theft cases registered in Kurla in neighbouring Mumbai and Thane, senior inspector Vijay Khedkar said.

"She targeted women travelling in crowded compartments, and skilfully stole jewellery from shoulder bags during rush hour," he said.

A Delhi court on Monday sent Red Fort car bomb blast accused Amir Rashid Ali to 10-day NIA custody.

Ali was produced before the New Delhi district Principal District and Sessions Judge, Anju Bajaj Chandna, in Patiala House courts complex amid tight security around 11.30 am.

Mediapersons were not allowed to enter the court as the proceedings were held in camera.

'Shoot those who show intent to kill': Dhaka preps for Sheikh Hasina order

Security is tightened across Bangladesh with police in the national capital ordered to shoot violent protesters ahead of a special tribunal's verdict against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina over alleged crimes against humanity even as prosecution on Sunday reiterated the death penalty for her.

On Monday, Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) is set to deliver the verdict against 78-year-old Hasina after her trial in absentia.

"We have sought the highest possible sentence for Hasina. Additionally, we requested for seizure of the convicts' property to be distributed among families of the martyrs and the injured victims (of last year's violent street protest)," ICT-BD prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters

Woman's half-naked body with injuries found near railway tracks In Delhi

An unidentified woman was found murdered allegedly near the railway tracks behind Shed No. 2 at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station, in Delhi, on Sunday, police said.

According to police, information was received on 16 November 2025 from ASI Dharmender (No. 29/Railway, PIS No. 28883949), PS Subzi Mandi, about a female body, aged around 50 years, lying near the tracks with torn clothes and visible injury marks.
