Breaking News Live Updates, December 18, 2025: The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the VB G Ram G Bill, a new rural employment law set to replace the two-decade-old MGNREGA, amid loud protests from the Opposition. Several MPs tore copies of the Bill in the House. The legislation will now go to the Rajya Sabha. It guarantees 125 days of wage work for rural households and shifts 40 per cent of costs to states.

If approved, the law will expand the annual employment guarantee from 100 to 125 days for rural families seeking unskilled manual work, marking a significant shift in India’s flagship rural jobs programme.

Luxury car haul surfaces in ED raid on Unnao YouTuber

The Enforcement Directorate has found several high end luxury cars during a search at the residence of YouTuber Anurag Dwivedi, who allegedly made large sums of money through online betting and gambling apps. Dwivedi, a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, is known for running a popular YouTube channel. Officials said the search led to the recovery of four premium vehicles, including a Lamborghini Urus, a BMW Z4 and a Mercedes Benz. Income tax officials raid Shilpa Shetty’s residence

Income tax officials on Tuesday carried out searches at actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s residence in connection with a case linked to her restaurant chain, Bastian. Shetty is a co owner of the brand, which was founded in 2014. Officials said the action was part of an ongoing probe, and related searches were also conducted at certain premises in Bengaluru. 15 declared foreigners told to leave Assam within 24 hours

Rohingya man murdered in Hyderabad, stabbed 19 times

A 19 year old Rohingya man was stabbed to death allegedly by another Rohingya following a drunken brawl here, police said on Thursday. The victim was attacked by a knife by the suspect who stabbed him 19 times at their camp in Balapur at around 1.30 AM on December 17 resulting in his instant death, they said. A police team reached the spot after getting information.

Netanyahu approves USD 35 billion natural gas export deal to Egypt, biggest in Israeli history

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that he has approved a USD35 billion natural gas export deal to Egypt, the biggest gas deal in Israeli history. The agreement could also help repair relations between the two countries strained during the two-year war in the Gaza Strip. The gas will be delivered to Egypt over the next 15 years by US energy giant Chevron, a key owner of the gas field off Israel's coast in the Mediterranean Sea. Half of the proceeds are expected to go to Israel's state coffers.
