Breaking News Live Updates, November 25, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today ceremonially hoisted a saffron flag on the spire of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking the formal completion of the temple’s construction. The event is being referred to as a symbolic “second pran pratishtha”, following the consecration of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum in January 2024.

Dubai-based drug trafficker held in UAE, to be deported to India

Dubai-based drug trafficker Pawan Thakur, accused of orchestrating one of India’s biggest cocaine consignments last year, has been arrested in the UAE and is set to be deported to India, officials confirmed.

Thakur is believed to have masterminded the smuggling of 82kg of high-grade cocaine, worth an estimated Rs 2,500 crore, seized in Delhi in November 2024. Investigators say the consignment entered India via a port and was moved by lorry to the capital, where it was hidden in a warehouse before being distributed nationwide.

India issues no-fly alert over Bay of Bengal ahead of likely missile test

India has declared a temporary no-fly zone across a vast 14,000-kilometre stretch of the Bay of Bengal from December 6 to 8, fuelling speculation of an upcoming missile test, according to sources familiar with the development.

The Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM), issued to pilots, airlines and air-traffic authorities, suggests the armed forces may be preparing to trial a high-powered supersonic system. Such advisories are routinely released to flag potential hazards or operational changes that could affect flight safety, including restricted airspace, equipment shutdowns or volcanic ash activity.

The India Meteorological Department has said that ash clouds drifting from the volcanic eruption in Ethiopia are expected to clear India’s skies by around 7:30 pm on Tuesday. The advisory indicates that the disturbances felt across several regions should subside as the plume dissipates later in the day.

Supreme Court backs Army in dismissal of officer over Gurdwara row

The Supreme Court has upheld the Army’s decision to dismiss former Lieutenant Samuel Kamalesan for refusing to enter a gurdwara to conduct a puja. The Bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, said the officer’s actions amounted to gross indiscipline and undermined the military’s core ethos of unity and respect across faiths.

The court noted that even an otherwise competent officer becomes a misfit if he defies lawful commands that hold the forces together. The ruling reinforces the Army’s stand that personal beliefs cannot override duties in uniform.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Chennai as the northeast monsoon intensifies, bringing continuous heavy rain across Tamil Nadu. A low-pressure area could form Cyclone Senyar, named by the UAE, over the Bay of Bengal, potentially nearing Tamil Nadu's coast by November 29-30. According to Chennai's Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), heavy to very heavy rainfall may lash Tamil Nadu in the coming days. There is an orange alert for Tirunelveli and Tenkasi with extremely heavy rain expected to drench them, especially the hilly regions.

Interestingly, it is the woman candidates who have dominated in the list with 37,786 woman compared to 34,218 men. In Chhattisgarh, principal's 'sexual harassment' drives 15-year-old girl to suicide in school

In yet another incident of student suicide, a 15-year-old girl has reportedly hanged herself in a private school's study room. The incident took place in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, and the student had accused the principal of molesting and sexually harassing her. The student of Class 9 allegedly used a saree to hang herself on Sunday evening, and the principal has been arrested following the incident. The victim used to live in Surguja's Sitapur area, and the school is located in a village under the Bagicha police station limits.

The temple city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh has geared up for the grand ceremony of the saffron flag hoisting on Ram Temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the sacred Hindu ritual of 'Dhwaja Arohan' by hoisting a 22-foot religious flag atop the sanctum on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Governor Anandiben Patel will be present at the event. Nearly 6,000 guests, including 500 seers from across UP, are expected to attend the ceremony.

India issues strong protests after Arunachal woman detained in China

The Ministry of External Affairs lodged a strong protest with China, after a woman from Arunachal Pradesh was detained at Shanghai airport. The woman was detained on November 21, saying that her Indian passport was invalid. The woman Prema Wangjom Thongdok was held by immigration officials at the airport for over 18 hours. The officials made fun of her and even suggested her to apply for a Chinese passport.

In Chhattisgarh school, teacher hangs four-year-old student from tree for not doing homework

In Chhattisgarh's Surajpur, a teacher at Hans Vahini Vidya Mandir in a village has allegedly punished a four-year-old student brutally simply for not doing homework. The teacher stripped, tied the child with a rope, and hanged him from a tree inside the school campus in Narayanpur village as the child helplessly cried and begged to be freed.

Air pollution: Delhi asks offices to function with 50 per cent staff on-site
