School Winter Holidays 2025-26: JK govt announces early winter vacation in Jammu, Kashmir valley

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced the winter vacation for schools in the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region. The holidays were declared for the Jammu winter zone. 

The government has decided to declare the early winter vacation in the Kashmir and Jammu regions in view of temperatures dipping several degrees over the last week.

The government has also released an official notice regarding the Jammu and Kashmir winter vacation 2025-26. The official order clearly stated that all the pre-primary classes will remain closed for the winter break from November 26 (Wednesday). While the classwork for students of classes 1 to 8 will come to an end on December 1. All the physical activities for classes 9 to 12 will stop from December 11.

All the teaching faculty must remain available for any academic activity during the JK school vacation 2025-26. 

According to the official sources, all the schools up to class 8 are scheduled to reopen on March 1, 2026. Higher classes will resume a week earlier, on February 22, 2026. The teaching staff can report to their respective schools on February 20 to make arrangements before opening schools.
