ICC announces T20 World Cup 2026 schedule: Full list of fixtures, venues, groups and India's schedule

ICC unveils the schedule, venues and groups for the 20-team T20 World Cup 2026. India vs Pakistan clash on February 15 headlines the fixture list.

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the complete fixture list for the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, revealing dates and venues for the 20-team tournament scheduled to be held in the February-March window across India and Sri Lanka next year.

The ICC event will begin on February 7, 2026, with a Group A match between Pakistan and the Netherlands at Colombo. The final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.

However, if Pakistan qualify for the final, the summit clash will be held in Colombo.

India will kickstart their campaign against the United States on February 7 in Mumbai and play a high-voltage clash against old foes Pakistan in Colombo on February 15.

Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Angelo Mathews and Harmanpreet Kaur were among the stars in attendance as the ICC unveiled the schedule of the marquee event. ICC chairman Jay Shah and CEO Sanjog Gupta were also present at the event.  

Rohit Sharma, who captained India to the 2024 T20 WC title, was appointed as the brand ambassador for the 10th edition of the mega event.

A total of five venues - Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai - have been selected to stage the World Cup matches in India. Meanwhile, Colombo and Kandy have been chosen as the venues to host matches in Sri Lanka. Colombo's two stadiums -  R. Premadasa and Sinhalese Sports Club - will stage the WC games.

India will enter the tournament as defending champions, having ended their ICC title drought with the breathtaking 2024 win in the USA and West Indies. After the announcement of the schedule, the countdown to their home title defence has begun officially.

As many as 55 matches will be played in the marquee event.

For the second successive edition, the T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams split into four groups of five. After the conclusion of the league stage, teams will battle it out in the Super Eight stage and followed by the semi-finals and final. Two teams will progress from each group into the Super Eight.

Alongside T20 heavyweights India, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh, the draw also includes emerging sides like Nepal, Oman, the UAE, Canada and Italy.

Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka under the neutral-venue agreement with India.

India and Pakistan pooled in Group A

The marquee fixture between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will headline the tournament schedule. The highly anticipated clash at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in Colombo on February 15.

Both teams have been pooled in Group A, which also comprises the likes of the USA, the Netherlands and Namibia.
