Faridabad student dies by suicide after AI blackmail with fake obscene images
A 19-year-old college student from Faridabad, Rahul, tragically died by suicide after being subjected to digital blackmail involving AI-generated fake obscene images. Rahul, a second-year student at DAV College from Basailva colony, was reportedly pushed to the edge by blackmailers who used artificial intelligence to create pornographic images and videos of him and his sisters after hacking his phone.
The accused demanded ₹20,000 via WhatsApp, threatening to leak the fake content online if the payment was not made. In the two weeks leading up to the incident, Rahul became withdrawn, stopped eating and talking, and isolated himself. On a Saturday evening, overwhelmed by the pressure, he consumed tablets in his room.
Despite being rushed to hospital, Rahul died during treatment. Police have filed an FIR against Sahil and Neeraj Bharti, who are suspected in connection with Rahul Bhartis death. Rahuls family, originally from Siwan, Bihar, stated that he last spoke to Neeraj on the day of his death.
Authorities have labelled this a serious case of cybercrime and AI misuse, sparking concerns about digital harassment and the dark side of artificial intelligence.
