Goa Demolishes Birch by Romeo Lane After Deadly Fire; Accused Named in FIR

| Updated on: Dec 10, 2025 | 08:20 AM

The Goa government has swiftly demolished the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, days after a devastating fire claimed 25 lives. This action is part of a broader crackdown on illegal establishments and a firm stance against regulatory breaches that endanger public safety.

Investigations into the inferno have intensified, with the First Information Report (FIR) squarely naming Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, the clubs owners, as the principal accused.

The FIR alleges gross negligence, including staging a fire show without adequate safety devices or audits, and operating without essential emergency exits or mandatory permissions. The government has initiated a magisterial inquiry and formed a committee to address procedural lapses.

Furthermore, a joint enforcement committee has been established to conduct comprehensive inspections and enforce fire safety regulations across Goas tourism belt, aiming to prevent future catastrophes.
