Goa Nightclub Fire: Luthra Brothers Deported

| Updated on: Dec 16, 2025 | 08:02 AM

In a significant development, the Luthra brothers, owners of the now-infamous Bachh nightclub in Goa, are being deported from Thailand to Delhi today. They will be taken into custody immediately upon arrival in connection with a devastating fire that claimed 25 lives, including tourists and staff.

The brothers were detained by Thai authorities following an Interpol blue corner notice issued at Indias request. They are expected to be produced before a Delhi court for transit remand before being transferred to Goa for further investigation.

The Goa Police’s magisterial inquiry has already seen over 100 individuals summoned, with statements recorded from excise officials, panchayat members, and even the original landowner.

A Delhi court previously rejected the brothers’ anticipatory bail plea, with police presenting evidence such as GST records and FSSAI applications indicating the club operated without valid licences. Authorities allege the brothers booked flights mere hours after the tragedy, raising suspicions of an escape attempt.

Furthermore, officials attribute the high death toll partly to the nightclubs narrow exits, which hindered many victims from escaping in time.
