IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers Addresses Employees on Recovery Post-Disruption
IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers has addressed employees in an internal message from the Gurugram Operations Control Centre, acknowledging recent operational difficulties and offering a deep apology to affected customers. The message, delivered on Sunday afternoon, December 7th, highlighted significant progress in stabilising airline operations following days of disruption.
Elbers noted that IndiGo successfully operated approximately 1,500 flights on Saturday, a substantial increase from about 700 flights on Friday, after implementing a system reboot and strategic cancellations.
The airline projected a 75% On-Time Performance (OTP) for Sunday, a notable improvement from 30% the previous day, with 137 stations back in operation. Processes for customer refunds, baggage handling, and rebooking are actively reducing backlogs.
The CEO expressed gratitude for the tireless efforts of all staff, including those in the Operations Control Centre and Airport Operations Control staff, and acknowledged the crucial support received from the Indian aviation ecosystem, including the government and DGCA. Elbers reiterated a commitment to restoring normalcy step by step.
