| Updated on: Dec 12, 2025 | 08:47 AM

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spent a substantial ₹47.38 crore on official air travel over a two-and-a-half-year period during his tenure. According to data formally shared in response to a question within the Legislative Council, Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleagues hired aircraft or helicopters a total of 181 times for journeys throughout Karnataka and to New Delhi. This equates to approximately one flight every five days.

The reported total expenditure of ₹47.38 crore encompasses the period stretching from 26 May 2023, shortly after Siddaramaiah took office as Chief Minister, up to 11 November 2025. The details came to light following an unstarred question posed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC N Ravikumar.

In a written reply, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah acknowledged the payments for these official trips. Specifically, during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, 48 aircraft and helicopter uses were recorded, incurring a cost of ₹12.23 crore. These figures shed light on the significant financial outlay for the Chief Ministers official travel requirements.
