MK Stalin Urges Vigilance Against Voter Deletions in Tamil Nadu Electoral Roll Revision
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has issued a crucial call to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party workers, urging them to diligently ensure that no eligible voter is left out during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across the state.
The Chief Minister highlighted concerns about low awareness regarding the S.I.R. process, noting that even some polling officials, including booth-level officers, remain unclear about the procedures.
Stalin delivered a stern warning, stating that inaccuracies or mistakes in filling out form submissions could directly lead to the deletion of voters from the rolls, thereby affecting their fundamental right to participate in elections.
To address potential issues and provide support, he announced the establishment of a dedicated DMK helpline, aimed at offering comprehensive voter guidance to citizens. While not opposing the necessary process of updating voter lists, Stalin openly criticised the timing of the S.I.R., which is taking place during the monsoon season.
He called for heightened precaution and vigilance from party members and the public to prevent any confusion or potential disenfranchisement, ultimately working to protect the voting rights of all citizens within Tamil Nadu.
