Pakistans Foreign Minister Admits Indian Drone Strike on Rawalpindi Air Base
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, has officially acknowledged that India’s precision drone strikes, conducted under ‘Operation Sindoor’, successfully targeted the Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi. Speaking at a year-end briefing, Mr Dar confirmed that one of approximately 80 Indian drones launched over 36 hours struck the military installation, resulting in damage to infrastructure and personnel injuries.
This admission marks a significant development following the April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor in retaliation. Mr Dar stated that Pakistan’s political and military leadership met on May 9th, with India's strikes occurring in the early hours of May 10th.
Satellite imagery later corroborated reports of heavy structural damage at the air base. The escalation led to Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) proposing a ceasefire, which was subsequently confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary and led to both nations agreeing to halt all military operations.
