PM Modi to Attend Maldives’ 60th Independence Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Guest of Honour at the Maldives 60th Independence Day celebrations on 26 July. This visit marks PM Modis third trip to the island nation and the first by a Head of State or Government during President Mohamed Muizzus' tenure.
The visit aims to further strengthen the already close relationship between India and the Maldives. Key discussions will focus on advancing the India-Maldives Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, reviewing progress made since the adoption of the Joint Vision Roadmap during President Muizzus' state visit to India in October 2024.
The visit underscores India's commitment to regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean region and its Neighbourhood First policy. It is expected to enhance strategic ties and mutual cooperation across economic and strategic sectors.
