BlackBuck, Indias leading logistics startup, recently announced its departure from Bengaluru after a nine-year presence. The company cited deteriorating road conditions and excessively long commutes (90 minutes) as the primary reasons for its relocation. This decision ignited a public dispute between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, criticised BlackBuck, labelling the move as "blackmail," while defending Bengaluru's status as India's premier tech hub. Conversely, Andhra Pradesh's IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, seized the opportunity to attract businesses to Visakhapatnam, emphasizing the city's superior infrastructure and safer environment. The incident underscores the challenges faced by Bengaluru in maintaining its competitiveness as a tech hub and highlights the growing competition from other Indian states.
