Public Outcry as Delhi High Court Grants Bail to Unnao Rape Convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar
The Delhi High Court has become the focal point of intense protests following its decision to grant conditional bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the former Uttar Pradesh MLA convicted in the Unnao rape case.
Demonstrators, including the victims family and numerous activists, gathered outside the court, brandishing placards and demanding justice. Sengar, who was serving a life sentence, had his term suspended by the High Court pending an appeal, a move that has sparked widespread outrage.
Protesters questioned the grounds for bail, highlighting concerns about victim safety and whether the decision sets a dangerous precedent. Despite police presence and warnings for dispersal, the agitation continued, reflecting deep public dissatisfaction with the ruling.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is reportedly set to challenge the suspension of his life sentence and bail. Sengar remains incarcerated in connection with other cases, including the culpable homicide of the victims father.
