Rahul doing Lord Rams work: Congress leader stokes row, BJP counters with sycophancy pro max
Congress leader Nana Patole controversially compared Rahul Gandhi to Lord Ram, stating Gandhi prioritises justice like Ram, justifying his non-visit to Ayodhya. The BJP swiftly condemned this as "sycophancy pro max" and an insult to the Hindu faith.
New Delhi: Congress leader and Maharashtra MLA, Nana Patole, is not new to stoking controversies. He has done so once again by comparing Rahul Gandhi with Lord Ram. The BJP has seized the moment to train its guns at Congress, and it called the comparison "sycophancy pro max".
Patole makes controversial comment
Patole was asked about Gandhi not visiting the Ayodhya Ram Temple so far, to which he said that the latter is "doing Lord Ram's work". He said, "Because Lord Ram's work was to ensure justice for harassed and deprived, Rahul Gandhi is doing the same. He likes to do this service instead of doing a photo session at the Ram Temple." He added that Rajiv Gandhi had a crucial role to play behind the opening of the Ram Temple's lock in 1986, that reportedly allowed Hindu devotees to enter and worship.
BJP attacks Congress over Lord Ram remark
The BJP, which has already criticised Gandhi for not visiting the Ram Temple, has now attacked Patole and Congress. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, "Once again, the Congress Party has shown sycophancy pro max. The Congress Party says that Rahul Gandhi is like Lord Ram. Just recently, they said Sonia Gandhi was the reason why Christmas can be celebrated. What kind of sycophancy? And then you are insulting the Hindu faith?"
Attacking Congress over Ram Temple, he said that the "party says Ram Mandir should not be built. This is the same Congress Party that says Ram Mandir Prana Prathishtha is 'naach gaana'. They keep attacking and insulting the Hindu faith."
BJP leader Kesavan dares Patole
CR Kesavan, the national spokesperson of the BJP, has dared Patole to ask Gandhi about his alleged "mocking" of the 'Praan Pratishtha' as 'naach gaana' or the reason behind his not visiting the Ram Temple.
Taking to X, he said, "Nana Patole comparing Lord Ram to Rahul Gandhi is an unforgivable, grievous insult to the faith and sentiments of the crores of Hindu devotees. Nana Patole had earlier disgracefully asked for the Shuddikaran of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir after our Hon'ble President Droupadi Murmu ji had visited the Divya Ram Mandir and prayed for the welfare of our country."
He added, "Nana Parole's disgraceful remarks and devious mindset are indefensible and most condemnable. Will Nana Patole dare to ask Rahul Gandhi why he mocked the Praan Pratishta ceremony as a Naach Gaana event or why Rahul Gandhi has not visited Ayodhya Ram Mandir yet?"
