Rahul Easwar Sent to Judicial Custody as Trivandrum Court Rejects Bail in Cyber Abuse Case

Right-wing activist and television commentator Rahul Easwar has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. His bail application was denied by the Trivandrum additional sessions court in connection with a cyber abuse case.

Easwar stands accused of repeatedly targeting and insulting a survivor by publicly disclosing her identity across television debates and social media. These allegations stem from a complaint filed against Congress leader Rahul Mankootathil, involving a sexual assault investigation.

With the courts decision to reject bail, the case is poised to enter its subsequent phase. Investigators are now intensifying their scrutiny of Easwars online conduct and its purported impact on the survivor.

His wife, Deepa Easwar, has publicly contested the charges, asserting that the allegations are politically motivated and lack substantiation in a court of law. She argued that claims of identity revelation and sexually coloured remarks are absent from his social media presence and that the specific remarks have not been quoted in the remand order.
