Rahul Gandhis Bihar Yatra Faces EC Rebuke over Vote Rigging Allegations
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a strong rebuke to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his allegations of "vote theft" during his ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar demanded that Gandhi either submit an affidavit within seven days supporting his claims or apologise to the nation.
Kumar deemed the allegations an insult to the Indian Constitution. Gandhi's yatra, spanning 1300 kilometers, aims to expose alleged electoral manipulation and irregularities in voter rolls ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
The ECI addressed concerns regarding duplicate voter IDs, explaining the processes in place to rectify such issues. The Commission also rejected claims of widespread double voting and voter fraud, stating that no evidence has been presented to support these accusations.
