Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) has spearheaded a significant improvement in India's sanitation infrastructure and hygiene practices. Launched in 2014, the initiative aimed to achieve a cleaner India, a goal reflected in the construction of over 11 crore toilets across the country.

This has led to a drastic reduction in open defecation, particularly benefiting women and rural communities. More than 95% of India's villages are now declared open defecation free (ODF). The SBM also involved extensive public awareness campaigns, engaging citizens in the cleanliness drive.

The missions success showcases the transformative power of a nationwide cleanliness initiative, backed by strong political will and public participation. It is considered a major achievement under PM Modis governance.
