Telangana: IMD issues cold wave alert for 12 districts

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for several districts in Telangana including in Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy for December 20, 21.

Minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 3°C to 4°C at some places during the next two days over Telangana.

Kohir in Sangareddy has recorded the lowest temperature over the last 24 hours, with 6.1°C, followed by Sirpur in Asifabad 6.3°C, Moinabad in Rangareddy recorded 6.8°C, Nawabapet in Vikarabad recorded 6.9°C. Adilabad recorded 7.3°C followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri at 8.3°C.

According to independent weather blogger T Balaji, "Severe Cold wave will continue as temperature further drops as compared to yesterday with parts of Hyderabad City recorded 7-10°C and North, West TG recorded 5-7°C.”

In the GHMC area, the University of Hyderabad recorded 7.8°C followed by Moulali, which recorded 8.3°C. Rajendranagar recorded 9.1°C, Sivarampalle 9.2°C Gachibowli 10.6°C, Alwal 10.9°C.

AP weather forecast:

Similar conditions can be expected in Andhra Pradesh in NCAP, Yanam, SCAP as minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2-3°C for five days. Lower tropospheric north-easterly winds prevail over AP and Yanam.
