UPSC recommends 114 additional candidates to DoPT for civil services vacancies

UPSC has recommended 114 additional candidates from the reserve list to the Department of Personnel and Training for Civil Services 2024 vacancies. The list includes 94 general, 5 EWS, 13 OBC and one each from SC and ST categories.

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recommended for the addition of 114 candidates to fill the remaining vacant posts based on the UPSC Civil Services exam 2024. Earlier, a total of 1,009 candidates were asked to fill the position in the order of merit for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other central services.

According to the rules, the commission formed a consolidated reserve list of candidates as per merit. Candidates from the UPSC reserve list are selected if there are any vacancies after the final result.

DoPT received recommendations for 114 candidates

The Department of Personnel and Training has sought and received recommendations from the commission for 114 candidates which include 94 candidates from the general category, 5 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 13 from the Other Backward Class (OBC) and one each from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and the Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

The commission stated, 'The recommended candidates will be informed directly by the DoPT. The candidature of 15 candidates is provisional. The list of these 114 candidates is also available on the UPSC website, upsc.gov.in'.

The UPSC Civil Service exam was conducted to fill 1,129 vacancies in Group A, Group B and various central service posts. The UPSC CSE Main result 2024 was declared on April 22, 2025.

UPSC CSE exam answer key

The UPSC has decided to publish the provisional answer key after the preliminary exams. Under the new exam policy, candidates will be able to raise objections against the answer key by providing a minimum of three reliable sources to support the claims. The final answer key will also be released after the evaluation of the challenges made by candidates.
