Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has shockingly blamed Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai for Florian Wirtz's struggles at Liverpool. Wirtz, Liverpool's second-most expensive signing of all time, has failed to set the ball rolling in his first season at the club. His poor form has not helped Liverpool, who are enduring a dismal campaign and are currently languishing in the 8th spot on the Premier League points table.

Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth a whopping £116 million ($153.67 million) after a stellar campaign last season, where he was one of the best players in the Bundesliga in Germany. However, the German playmaker has failed to live up to his reputation for Arne Slot's team and has struggled to make an impact.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes Wirtz's struggles is down to Liverpool not playing to his strengths and his teammates not passing him the ball. Hoeness pointed out how Liverpool spent nearly 500 million euros on transfers ahead of the ongoing season and are enduring a catastrophic season.

Opening up on Wirtz's poor form, Hoeness shockingly accused the likes of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai of not passing the ball to the German playmaker. The Bayern president said the stars in the Liverpool team don't want to give up the ball, which has resulted in the team's struggles this season.

"They have spent 500 million euros and are playing a catastrophic season… In my opinion, that’s because you only have superstars. You only have chiefs and no workers. I always say: at Liverpool, they’ll soon have to play with five balls because the stars don’t want to give up a ball. Poor Florian Wirtz, he doesn’t get the ball at all because Salah and Szoboszlai and what they’re all called want to play with their own ball," said Hoeness.

While Wirtz has struggled in the midfield, Liverpool's record signing Alexander Isak has also failed to fire up front. Both Wirtz and Isak are yet to score a goal in the Premier League this season. Wirtz has no assists to his name in the Premier League, while Isak has a solitary assist to his name.

Liverpool return to winning ways against West Ham United

Liverpool bounced back to winning ways against West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday, snapping their three-match losing streak across all competitions. Liverpool lost their last three games by a margin of more than three goals, before beating West Ham in the Premier League.

Arne Slot's men lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the Premier League, before getting thrashed 3-0 by Nottingham Forest. Liverpool lost their third game in a row after a 4-1 defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. Liverpool have managed only two wins in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Slot left out Mohamed Salah from Liverpool's playing XI against West Ham in a desperate attempt to help his side rebound from their recent lows. It was the first time that Salah was dropped from a Premier League game for Liverpool under the Dutch manager. However, the move worked in Slot's favour as Liverpool won the game 2-0 with the help of a brace from Cody Gakpo.
