US controlled Pakistans nuclear arsenal: Ex-CIA agent John Kiriakou makes shocking claims
Former CIA agent John Kiriakou claimed that the CIA held frequent meetings with Musharraf and continued to provide aid to Pakistan, whether for military purposes or economic support. In return, the former president allowed the US to "do whatever they wanted."
New Delhi: Adding more heat to the already crippling global situation, former CIA officer John Kiriakou accused the US of providing Pakistan with millions of dollars in aid during the tenure of former President Pervez Musharraf. He claimed that the aid was given "essentially to purchase” Pakistan’s cooperation.
Kiriakou made a particularly controversial statement, alleging that Musharraf had handed over control of Islamabad’s nuclear arsenal to the US. He added that while ordinary Pakistanis struggled to make ends meet, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto led an opulent life abroad.
'United States loves working with dictators': Kiriakou
In an interview with news agency ANI, Kiriakou said, "Our relations with the Pakistani government were very, very good. It was General Pervez Musharraf at the time. And look, let’s be honest here , the United States loves working with dictators. Because then you don’t have to worry about public opinion or the media anymore. And so, we essentially just purchased Musharraf.”
Kiriakou further claimed that the CIA held frequent meetings with Musharraf and continued to provide aid to Pakistan, whether for military purposes or economic support. In return, the former president allowed the US to "do whatever they wanted.”
'Was Musharraf playing a two-faced game'
However, Islamabad also had to maintain strong relations with its military establishment. Therefore, according to Kiriakou, Musharraf pretended to side with the US on counterterrorism while simultaneously carrying out terrorist activities against India. "India and Pakistan were on the brink of war in 2002. December 2001 was when the Parliament attack also happened. During that time,” Kiriakou said.
The interview revealed shocking details about the global situation in the early 2000s. It recalled the deadly propaganda that destroyed millions of lives and depicted how world leaders turned their citizens into pawns in their geopolitical games.
