Visibility dropped sharply in Dehradun

On Wednesday morning, light fog and mist made commuting difficult in Dehradun and nearby areas. In the plains, visibility dropped sharply due to dense fog, causing inconvenience to drivers and pedestrians. The fog has also led to a significant fall in temperatures, creating cold day conditions.

In Udham Singh Nagar, the maximum temperature fell six degrees Celsius below normal, while Mukteshwar recorded a drop of four degrees Celsius. This has resulted in a cold wave in some areas.

Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 23.9°C

According to the Meteorological Center, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 23.9°C and a minimum of 8.7°C. Udham Singh Nagar reported a maximum of 14.9°C and a minimum of 10.6°C. Mukteshwar recorded a maximum of 18.7°C and a minimum of 5.1°C. These figures show how sharply temperatures are varying between the hills and plains.

Bright sunshine is giving relief in Dehradun and the hilly districts

Bright sunshine during the day is giving relief in Dehradun and the hilly districts, but mornings and evenings remain cold. In contrast, the plains are facing severe chill due to fog. The Meteorological Center has warned that the dry weather will continue, meaning there is little chance of relief from fog in the coming days.

An orange alert has been issued for dense fog and cold waves in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar. Similar conditions are expected to continue on Friday.

Possibility of change in weather from Saturday

However, there is a possibility of a change in the weather from Saturday. A western disturbance is likely to become active, which may bring partly cloudy skies and light snowfall in some hilly areas. This could provide some relief to residents and tourists in the mountains, though the plains may continue to face foggy conditions.

People to take precautions while traveling

The administration has advised people to take precautions while traveling, especially in fog-hit areas. Drivers have been asked to use fog lights and avoid speeding. Residents are also being urged to stay warm and protect themselves from the cold wave.
